Make the University of Amsterdam a Safe Place for Non-Binary People

I want everyone to be safe.

I'm nonbinary myself and this is unacceptable.

Because I’m a non-binary individual and think this !@#$! can’t fly??? While claiming he’s a “gender and sexuality” expert, his statements show a lack of understanding and of ignorance. This cis person is yet again a testament to why people not part of a minority group will never understand their struggles. This is especially true for white cis-heterosexual men that face little to no oppression and thus will never be able to put themselves in the shoes of minority groups so just stfu about it

this discourse on 'freedom of speech' puts the opinions of someone unaffected by harmful practices above the real, lived experiences of peopel transgressing gender binaries every day. everyone deserves to feel safe, heard and seen. many non-binary folks experience real-life harm precisely because people have and perpetuate ideas Laurens Buijs is perpetuating here. His status as a lecturer and thus as an authority figure people want to learn from makes this worse for folks who simply want to live a safe, happy life as we all deserve. Respect for each others' lived experiences must be central to that and this is something Laurens Buijs negates.
