This restriction not only limits the number of potential donors but also unfairly excludes a significant portion of the population, including immigrants, expatriates, and individuals who may be unable to master the language for various reasons.
We believe that the ability to save lives should not be hindered by language barriers. It is time for Denmark to embrace inclusivity and acknowledge the diverse backgrounds of its residents. I’ve been a regular platelet donor in my home country (the United States), and now that I’m in Denmark I wish I could continue to donate. I’m learning Danish but it’ll be a while until I’m good enough to read the donor materials!
