There should be no debate about trans or non-binary people. Clearly they exist, and they deserve rights and comfort like anybody else. Especially at UvA they should be able to have a safe space that they might not have at home or at work. The pride flag on our buildings should not signify only acceptance of gay people, but of the entire LGBTQ+ (and that includes non-binary) community.
UvA should also have more gender neutral bathrooms and should stop using gendered language near the bathrooms, e.g. "lady bin". It's old fashioned and hurtful.
