Dear fellow irrigators,
Thank you for signing the MIL Concerned Shareholders Group online petition. We are
writing to update you on the outcome.
In response to the petition which included support from more than 400 landholdings,
MIL invited a small group of shareholders to a meeting that was held in Deniliquin on 26
August 2026. The group consisted of approximately 12 engaged younger irrigators, most
of whom have not previously been at conflict with the MIL Board.
We attach a copy of the presentation given by the group during the meeting. The MIL
Board provided their response on 31 August 2026, which was a brief letter stating that
they are going to continue with their current strategy.
Whilst MIL’s response is disappointing, what is also of concern is that following multiple
divisive and public conflicts involving the Board over the past decade, the Board had a
chance to work with constructive shareholders who could arguably be described as the
next generation and try and find some sort of compromise. Rather they chose to simply
dismiss this group’s concerns.
We are currently assessing our next steps, which may involve a request to the Board for
further investigation in the form of a resolution at the upcoming AGM. A resolution
proposed by shareholders must be submitted to the Board prior to 18 September (only
16 days away) to be included in the AGM. In preparation, we ask that you fill in the
attached request for information and email it to MIL at your earliest convenience to
ensure your details match those in MIL’s records – failure to do this can result in
resolutions being invalidated. MIL may take a week to respond so please do not delay.
We will be seeking your feedback on our proposed next steps over the coming weeks
and are considering some sort of face-to-face meetings on 14 September.
Thank you again for your support on this matter.
Sincerely,
Antony Vagg, Lachie Knight, John Doyle, Hannah Kelly & Cam Robertson
