Our Demand
We call on the Government of Norway to take a clear, principled, and urgent stand by:
Why This Matters
Women and girls in Afghanistan are being systematically denied education, employment, freedom of movement, participation in public life, and other fundamental human rights. These restrictions are not isolated or temporary measures. They form part of a deliberate and comprehensive system designed to remove women and girls from society and deprive them of equal human dignity.
Norway has long presented itself as a defender of human rights, equality, and international justice. That commitment must now be matched by action. Recognizing the Taliban’s treatment of women and girls as gender apartheid would send a clear message: systematic gender-based oppression must not be ignored, minimized, or normalized.
Our Call
We therefore urge the Government of Norway to officially recognize gender apartheid in Afghanistan, to champion its recognition under international law, and to work with international partners to ensure accountability for those responsible. Silence and hesitation risk enabling impunity. Norway should stand firmly with Afghan women and girls and help ensure that their rights, freedom, and dignity remain at the center of the international response.

Growing up in Iran, I am familiar with the taste of gender aparthide, being a woman i know how unfair it is that you have to fight for your basic human rights, no girl should be forbidden from education, or choosing their own clothings. and Taliban is trying to omit femininity from public space. It’s just sooo cruel.
