Council plans to upgrade Anembo Rd with kerb and guttering and, in doing so, will reduce its width to 9m (currently 11-12m wide). This will significantly compromise safety for all road users. Residents and road users want Anembo Rd to be kept at 11m wide.
Given the choice, either amend the current plans to add kerb and gutter with an 11m carriageway or leave Anembo Rd as it is.
The current effective width of Anembo Rd is approximately 11-12m, which only just accommodates the volume and type of traffic it receives. Anembo Rd serves as a key through-way into Berowra and experiences high traffic volumes, including trucks and school buses. Additionally, vehicles are consistently parked on both sides of the road by residents and visitors throughout the day. Reducing the carriageway to 9m would significantly compromise safety for all road users. It is recommended that the proposed width be increased to at least 11m, consistent with adjacent roads and many similar roads within the shire. This would ensure adequate space for traffic flow and parking, thereby enhancing safety for all road users.

With increased demands of traffic and on-street parking it is important that we increase the width of our streets. We need to plan for future needs and not the past. Rubbish removal and other wide bodied vehicles now use our roads and the volume of traffic wont decrease therefore, we must raise the maximum width of our streets to provide safe passage for all.
