Petition addressed to: Charles Sturt University Bathurst

We call on Charles Sturt University to reinstate the on-campus delivery of BMS327 for students allocated to Block C placement and provide appropriate catch-up opportunities following placement.

Students have no control over their placement allocation, yet Block C students are being required to complete BMS327 online and attend an intensive school, creating an inequitable learning experience compared with previous placement cohorts and students at other campuses. This change reduces access to face-to-face practical learning, delays assessments, and may have significant academic, financial, and personal consequences for affected students.

We believe all on-campus students should have equitable access to the same learning opportunities, practical experiences, and assessment timelines, regardless of when or where they are allocated for placement. We urge the University to reconsider this decision and ensure fair, consistent treatment for all students.

Reason

This petition is important because it seeks to ensure that all BMS327 students are treated fairly and equitably, regardless of when they are allocated to placement. Students assigned to Block C placement have no control over their placement timing, yet they are being required to complete BMS327 online and attend an intensive school, unlike previous cohorts who were provided with on-campus catch-up opportunities.

The proposed change not only reduces access to face-to-face practical learning but also delays assessments and creates unnecessary academic, financial, and personal consequences for affected students. For some, it may impact accommodation arrangements, scholarships, and the ability to remain on campus.

We are asking the University to provide Block C students with the same opportunity afforded to other cohorts: to complete BMS327 on campus with appropriate catch-up sessions. This petition is about ensuring consistency, equity, and equal access to the educational experience that all on-campus students have enrolled and paid for.

Thank you so much for your support, Tessa Cross, Bathurst

Why people sign

Placement is hard enough with financial and technical issues. Students shouldn’t now have to worry about not getting their preferred form of learning. After all the students are the ones paying and should have a say.

I am a block C student who is being impacted by this decision in which mean paying extra to live on campus while not even being able to attend class after significant financial and personal sacrifices to be here

This petition is important to me as I require face-to-face time and opportunities to allow myself to learn and understand content. I believe it isn't fair that the first 5 weeks of this session will effect the remained of my learning, which has been selected as oncampus to the benefit of my learning and progression in this course.

It’s important to my sister in law and she’s important to me

My partner is doing paramedicine and it's unfair that she has to to intensives when she is paying for on-campus resources
