Petition addressed to: NSW Government and Sydney Water

KU Kira is more than just a childcare centre; it is the heart of our community. For years, it has provided a safe, high-quality, not-for-profit space for our children to grow. Now, Sydney Water plans to sell off this vital public land for private profit, forcing our centre to close by year-end and leaving local families stranded. We cannot stand by while essential social infrastructure is stripped away during a national childcare crisis. Join us in demanding that the NSW Government steps in to stop the sale, renew the lease, and protect KU Kira for the next generation of local kids

Reason

This cause is vital because we are in the midst of a national childcare crisis where high-quality, not-for-profit places are already incredibly rare. Closing KU Kira doesn't just displace families; it permanently strips away essential social infrastructure from a community with few alternatives.

Thank you so much for your support, KU Kira Families , Sydney

Why people sign

We need local childcare in Paddington

We need to make our locale as friendly as possible to young people wishing to bring up their families in the area. Child care is not a choice for most families it’s a necessity.

Kira is a wonderful and important local childcare centre servicing South Paddington. Its large area allows for safe and easy drop/off and collections in a very busy area and the outdoor areas are vital for healthy day care experiences for children and carers alike. Both of my daughters attended Kira, it provides important family and community support for local young families.

As a local resident, access to childcare is essential fo the community.
