Petition addressed to: The Community
The 3 beautiful old trees in King Street Paterson are to be removed by Dungog Council this week to make it easier to resurface the road. We requested community consultation in May 2026. They didn't think this was appropriate! This goes against Transport for NSW "Water sensitive urban design guideline - Applying water sensitive urban design principles to NSW transport projects. It also goes against NSW Urban Heat policy on "retaining and expanding urban tree canopy to combat the urban heat island effect rather than removing street trees".
Reason
Trees are important in our town centre. They cannot be readily replaced as it takes decades for them to grow. We asked Council for consultation in May 2026. Why did this nor happen?

This is my home I grew up on this town and how boring and bland it looks without. These trees are our history don’t take that from us!
