Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth 11 is our longest serving Monarch having been on the Throne for 70 years. She should not be remembered for that fact alone, but for her dignity, dedication to duty, grace and wisdom and for her total commitment to this country, and the Commonwealth, throughout her entire reign.
So much has been written about her contribution to this country, and to other countries around the world, but is best summed up by the words of king Felipe V of Spain:
" Her sense of duty, commitment and a whole life devoted to serving the people of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland, and the Commonwealth, set an example for all of us and will remain as a solid and valuable legacy for future generations."
Frederick 11, King of Prussia, and Empress Catherine of Russia were all afforded the title of "the Great" for the outstanding contributions they made throughout their reigns. I believe for the very same reason that Elizabeth 11 should be remembered as Elizabeth the Great.
