Darwin City Council is left to foot the bill, repair damages to their infrastructure and what rubbish isn’t cleaned up ends up in the ocean, contaminating Parks and Wildlife reserves like Casuarina Coastal Reserve. (Went there last night and was saddened by how much rubbish was on the beach at all tide levels.) The amount of money the NT spends on the clean up should be put to better use.

I've lived in Darwin for over 25 years. This year, I had fireworks thrown at my car as I was driving. Idiots were launching them from the back of utes up to people's balconies. I don't understand why politicians are waiting for a catastrophe to confirm that arming morons is a bad idea. They're too scared to stand up and ban selling them to the public but do they really want to have to stand up to explain why they didn't once someone loses their life? Enough.

I'm another born and raised Territorian who grew up with fireworks and support the ban. The pollution, lost and stressed and killed pets, property damage, personal injuries etc go on for weeks and weeks. All so some drunken bogans can have a bit of "fun". Just ban it already.

As you stated territory day is a unique day however your trying to make it the same as every other state or territory in Australia, yes it does cause some disruption in certain locations however banning fireworks completely will take away the uniqueness away from it.
