Het verzoekschrift is gericht aan: Port Phillip council

We, the undersigned residents of Howe parade port Melbourne, request the City of Port Phillip Council to protect existing residents’ access to on-street parking by issuing resident permit parking.

The Barak Beacon site is being redeveloped by the Victorian Labor Government into a large high-density housing complex. This project has already caused severe parking disruption across Garden City, with construction workers occupying most available street spaces and creating congestion and access issues for long-term residents from 5am.

The problem will become far worse when the redevelopment is completed. Hundreds of new residents will compete for already limited street parking, with the site severely lacking in parking and the situation will be compounded by the Fishermans Bend urban renewal area, which will bring further high-density development and traffic into the same precinct.

Additionally, the new school on Williamstown rd will add daily traffic and parking pressure on Garden City’s residential streets, an area never designed to accommodate this level of demand.

We therefore request that the Council implement residential parking permits across both sides of Howe Parade.

Waarom mensen ondertekenen

Street parking in Howe Parade has become completely out of control. After I drop off my children at childcare in the mornings, I cannot park anywhere near my own home, I work from home and need access throughout the day. It’s causing daily stress and inconvenience, and it’s simply not sustainable for families in the area. Something needs to be done to restore fair, manageable parking so residents can actually use the streets we live on.

To ensure existing residents don't lose the ability to park close to home. And to avoid dumping of cars

I support introducing parking restrictions in Howe parade to ensure residents in houses (not apartments) can access parking outside their homes when the Barak beacon residents move in

Residents are already scrambling for a car spot close to home with the current construction workers taking so many spots. It will only get worse once the new residents move in (and there are not enough car spots for them in the buildings) plus the new school opening around the corner . I know of residents that have had to park in neighbouring streets and walk home.

To ensure a well functioning community
