Søknad er adressert til: Hawkesbury City Council
Hawkesbury City Council is proposing a Special Rate Variation (SRV)—a planned increase in residential rates over the next three years of 40%. The purpose of this SRV is to secure additional funding to renew, maintain, and improve essential infrastructure across the region, with a particular focus on our local road network.
Council states that the SRV will help address the backlog of road repairs, enhance long-term asset management, and ensure safer, more reliable transport routes for residents and businesses. The proposed increase is intended to support sustainable service delivery and reduce reliance on short-term fixes.
Grunn
- We oppose the 40% rate hike because it worsens the cost-of-living crisis for many struggling families
- It doesn't stop Council wasting money on non-essential projects while neglecting critical infrastructure

Rates are already excessive! Cost of living is high. Families are struggling to pay their bills as it is, The last thing we need is a rate hike! 😩
This is a ridiculously high increase, we already think the money needs to be spent better. Giving more money is not the only solution.
The cost of living is too high and this is not acceptable increase. We pay nearly 3500 for pump out + our normal rates a year.
Almost 5500 a year already! Its too much, how can a family afford to live here, it use to be 1/3 the cost 10 year ago.
Something must be done!
Council are haphazardly raising rates with no consequence of their own financial misdeeds. Our rates are increasing at a higher rate than any other council.

The proposed increase is outrageous and unnecessary. Council needs to manage it's finances better rather than increasing the costs to residents.
