Hawkesbury City Council is proposing a Special Rate Variation (SRV)—a planned increase in residential rates over the next three years of 40%. The purpose of this SRV is to secure additional funding to renew, maintain, and improve essential infrastructure across the region, with a particular focus on our local road network.
Council states that the SRV will help address the backlog of road repairs, enhance long-term asset management, and ensure safer, more reliable transport routes for residents and businesses. The proposed increase is intended to support sustainable service delivery and reduce reliance on short-term fixes.

Obrazloženje

We oppose the 40% rate hike because it worsens the cost-of-living crisis for many struggling families
It doesn't stop Council wasting money on non-essential projects while neglecting critical infrastructure

If council can "selloff" the water waste to Sydney Water because of their own negligence, they certainly do not need my 40% extra in rates.

I have lived my entire life in the Hawkesbury and can never remember a council so completely out of touch with the rate payers. Shame on them
