I lived in Hope for 9 years and still visit frequently. I loved the beauty of the view to the east as it used to be, which has already been despoiled by the existing gravel pit and will be much worse if the pit is expanded. The pit is an ugly scar that ruins the quality of life for all Hope residents and visitors.
Preservation of the forest habitat is also important.

For some years now we see the pit grow from our living room window. We see the waves of dust as it blows down over the residential area. We have had a number of visitors comment on the ugly scar as they drive in from the west. A real blemish on our beautiful community already, can't imagine such an expansion!

We live in area & constant dust & noise from quarry is ruining our air quality knowing how he has exceeded 10 times his limit of loads agreed to we can expect him to do the same with any quota given
I am a no vote for expansion

Because I live here and we don't want a bloody mine on our door step. Have they seen how much land is available in this province? Find somewhere else.

The quality of life for the people and the wildlife is greatly affected by this. The process is complete destruction of an area.

Messing up the pristine inviorment. And I don't like looking at gravel trucks. We just went through the pipeline and there were gravel trucks everywhere. They create dust as well. And the trucks mess up the streets. Who is going to pay for that. I'm not. Why did the city of Hope not ask everyone about this like send a flyer out. I don't like this...

Quality of life for residents will be disrupted. Property value will go down, constant construction will be a nuisance. The gravel pit expansion is not necessary and shouldn’t happen!

Mining and the terrible polution of it does not belong in a residential area it is actually illegal. Stop the Hope Gravel Pit expansion we dont need it and hundreds of Huge Gravel Trucks pounding over our beautiful residential streets in this Hope Community.

I am indigenous and I can’t let this happen to our land even though I live in Chilliwack I will never support something that will ruin or take away from our land and animals including our people who care🧡🐾🪶!!!

The surrounding mountain landscape of Hope is what makes it appealing for residents and visitors. The existing mine activity has already scared the environment and increased heavy equipment operating in the area. Many people from out of town have made comments about the sad fact of the mountain being blown apart. It stands out from so many angles of the community so the effects are wide. The municipal parks and Othello Tunnels are main tourist attractions that are in close proximity of this mining project. The leaders of Hope need government support to stop this expansion. If this project moves forward it will have a negitive economic ripple effects that will last generations.

I was raised in Hope, lived there from 1985 until 2017. My parents and other family still live in Hope. I’ve watched the destruction of peaceful living of those directly affected by this gravel pit over the last couple years, through frustrated posts and video/photo evidence they have shared. To all the level of disruption to continue this long is already disgraceful but it will be even more of a disgrace to allow this gravel pit to be expanded in size. This directly affects long time residents of Hope and something needs to be done to restore their peaceful neighborhood, not to further erode it.

I lived in Hope for 30 years and my daughter still lives there. She would be greatly affected by this because she lives very close to the mine site. This will not only affect her property value but affect her every day life. Having dump trucks on kawkawa lake road makes it very dangerous for anyone walking their children or pets. I have felt very unsafe many times when I am walking my granddaughter. I believe Hope already Mix is not being a good neighbour and is only looking for profits. They have already had a very negative impact on this area.

I'm concerned for the saftey of the residents of Kawkawa lake and the numerous visitors to the area. This is not to be taken lightly as we are not part of an industrial park. I can't believe this was even considered.

Road safety as a parent, environmental concerns in the area as a resident, and as I work in behaviour intervention I am not in agreement with rewarding a company that has not followed the guidelines and rules that were agreed to.

This proposed gravel pit expansion should not be happening so close to residential areas and recreation sites. It is detrimental to the environment and will have a negative impact on Hope as a tourist destination. The gravel truck traffic is inappropriate for the roads in this area. The noise, dust and other pollution will be very difficult for many residents who live in the vicinity.

Increased Traffic, further damage to the bridge and roads from the heavy truck, increased noise, increased dust and debris, increase environmental impact including slope erosion which increases chances of damage to an isalmon habitat on the Coquihalla River, and it will be an eyesore for our tourist trade, in addition the kettle valley trail that accesses below this area and leads to the Othello Tunnels will be affected by the increased number of trucks decreasing or even hindering accesses to the trail from the cemetery side along with the noise increase discouraging hikers and bikers from wanting to do the low impact trail

If this pit is expanded to the size they are applying for it will change our town forever. I have lived and owned my home backing onto Kawkawa Lake road for the last 42 years. Our peace and quiet will be gone and the value of our homes will significantly go down. We will have loud truck traffic, safety issues, dust and noise. There is no business having a gravel pit in a residential neighbourhood. Please consider the community!.

I oppose this query expansion. It serves no one but the owner. Our streets will continue to be degraded and the citizens living adjacent impacted with noise and filth. The town council proved itself incompetent by not imposing conditions on zoning, access, noise and traffic control.

I am fully aware that the gravel pit was in existence prior to the development of most of the residential homes in the area; however, due to safety concerns and the increase in noise and dust, I do not support the expansion of this grandfathered gravel pit. Additionally, with the twinning of the Trans Mountain Pipeline work recently done in Hope, I have seen what the increase of commercial vehicles does to our tax paying District roads!

I have had several opportunities to hike from Kawkawa Lake into the area and have been disappointed regularly as the forest is decimated. Forests are very helpful in reclaiming the climate stability.
