I am most concerned about the further destruction of the natural environment where the gravel pit lies. And I am opposed to the increased levels of dust, noise, and impacts to roads,

I do not agree to have the extra traffic in and out of the area. I do not agree to have the natural beauty of the land destroyed for money.

I live near this mountain and I love the natural beauty of Hope. It is crazy we are taking away the natural beauty of this place.

This land should never have been clear cut. It is a scar on the landscape and an environmental travesty. To now allow a gravel pit to exist in a residential neighbourhood with the potential for the unprecedented disturbance of constant gravel truck traffic and the noise of extracting the gravel will be the ruination of the Kawkawa Lake area and indeed, of our town. We need to be a 'destination' for tourism, not just a gas and food stop, for Hope and District to flourish. This gravel pit expansion and ruination of our natural beauty will be the death knell for Hope.

Tourism is a very important economic factor for Hope. People are moving to Hope from the cities west to Vancouver. They come here to be out of the big city, to enjoy nature and be connected to the natural world. This project puts a damper off all that.

The truck traffic on Kawkawa lake road is bad enough! This is a residential area not commercial! It would decrease our property value, not to mention the dust and the damage to our roads!

I have recreational property in Hope. I was born and raised in Hope. My mother lived her life there and contributed greatly to the community. Both parents are buried in the Hope cemetary. Our family has always loved the beauty, cleanliness and natural surroundings of this pristine little town. Such a large expansion of the gravel pit will do more harm than good and will create a blemish to the existing environment.

We live 15 minutes outside of Hope in Yale - I work in town, my son attends school there and the expansion of a gravel pit in a residential area poses serious detriments to the wellbeing of the local community.

An expansion of this pit will completely ruin the peace, quiet and beauty of this beautiful area of Hope. Has there been a habitat loss survey done? An environmental assessment? A study into the effects of noise pollution on humans and all the other beings that live in the mountains? This expansion must be stopped.

I grew up in Hope and recently moved back because I love the natural beauty. The view to the east has already been despoiled by the existing gravel pit and will be much worse if the pit is expanded. The pit is an ugly scar that ruins the quality of life for all Hope residents and visitors.
Preservation of the forest habitat is also important.

I like to hike the Kettle Valley Rail Trail to the Othello Tunnels. The road is also an access point for the gravel trucks that this petition hopes to limit. It is a beautiful scenic area along the Coquihalla River where people can access nature. Do we really need to sully this natural beauty with the filth, dust, noise and debris that inevitably accompany gravel trucks?

The residents of Kawkawa Lake highly value the peace and tranquility of their community, which is already impacted by significant dust production from existing operations. The proposed gravel pit would exacerbate this issue, further compromising air quality and environmental conditions. Additionally, the continuous influx of heavy trucks—potentially passing through every five minutes—poses a serious safety concern for pedestrians and local traffic. This increased industrial activity threatens to erode the small-town character of Hope, BC, fundamentally altering the community’s atmosphere and livability.
