CONCERNS REGARDING THE MISTREATMENT OF THE ARCHBISHOP: ETHIOPIAN EPISCOPAL CHURCH 

We, the concerned members of the Ethiopian Episcopal Church (EEC) are shocked by the preposterous decisions taken by the Bishops as contained in the Bishop's Internal Memo dated 14/08/2026 and the Executive Council regarding the Exit Plan of the Archbishop. We  
hereby wish to express our discontent at the attempt of removing the Archbishop of the church from his position.

The Bishops and the Executive Council are not empowered by the EEC Acts to take such a stand against a seating Archbishop.

We believe that the EEC Acts fall short in addressing your absurd intentions of slander against the Archbishop. Perhaps this concern should be raised as a point of thorough discussion at Synod provided it is accompanied by a tangible motivation

We wish to remind the members of the Executive Council that they were elected at Synod and from their Dioceses and Associations. They were entrusted with a huge responsibility of building the Church and ensuring that there is Spiritual Growth among the members of the Church. It is very disappointing to note that the Executive Council that blundered in 2019 caused delays in the election of the current Archbishop attempts to repeat a similar act by causing instability and chaos in our Church.

We also note the continued disrespect shown to the leader of our church (Archbishop) by some members within the Executive Council.

This annoyance and obsession as displayed by the Executive Council towards one person is deeply frustrating the entire membership of our church. We appeal to those who elected themselves to be against one person to divorce their tendencies. As we preach the gospel of unity and respect in church.

We pray that the Bishops and the Executive Council desist from putting our Church in a mode of uncertainty. We also pray that this may not plunge our Church into similar schisms as those of 1983 and 1991.
