Petition addressed to: Bayside City Council

We the undersigned hereby petition Bayside City Council
1.   To abandon its proposal to build a replacement for the Beaumaris Concourse toilet block on the Concourse Green – as a public toilet block there would greatly degrade the Green and directly cause the removal of two of its large mature trees.
2.   To abandon its proposal to construct a network of concrete paths on the Green, instead providing no more than one compacted granitic sand path directly from the car park to the new gazebo.

Reason

Important: to comply with Bayside Council petition requirements all petition signatories Must provide given name, surname and full address including suburb and postcode.

For over 50 years, Beaumaris Conservation Society Inc. with the overwhelming support of Beaumaris residents, has protected the Green from repeated attempts at unsympathetic development.

Bayside City Council’s website now reveals a $1.35 million plan to replace the temporary Gazebo on the Concourse Green (the Green) with a permanent structure, also building a new toilet block on the Green and dominating the area with a network of concrete paths and timber decking, which would dramatically spoil the natural state of this public space.

We must keep protecting the natural and relaxing feel of the Green from toilets, concrete paths and excessive timber decking. The Concourse has enough hard surfaces!

BCS Inc. seek your support to sign this petition seeking that Bayside Council balance building a new Gazebo on the Green with protecting the strong natural appeal of this public space.

We also ask you to email the Bayside Mayor and Beckett Ward councillor Debbie Taylor-Haynes and Ms Jill Colson Director Environment, Recreation & Infrastructure Bayside City Council supporting our position stated above:
