Because of the ecological harm this will have on our water supply, beavers, birds, and lumber. By tearing up the earth for a gravel mine we affect the how much rain water the ground can hold. So next fall when we get a lot of rain there will be even more catastrophic flooding

My parents lived in Hope for 63 years and I grew up and went to school in Hope. Kawkawa Lake is a special place and a big part of Hope. There is no need to have gravel trucks on the roads where residents live. I totally agree….Stop the Hope Cemetery Expansion. Hope is a Wonderful Place and we ALL need to support those living there.

My wife's family settled in Hope in the early1950's. My mother-in-law is buried in the cemetery in Hope. For the last 38 years I have appreciated many adventures and family gatherings in the Kawkawa Lake and Coquihalla River regions. The beauty and proximity to wilderness is as good as it gets but it must be protected for future generations. Countless gravel trucks driving through this region will disturb the natural beauty, create noise pollution and erode the environment.

I live in the very near vicinity of this proposed area for expansion. This is so wrong at so many levels to further destroy this community and so near the residential areas never mind the devastating effort this will have on our water systems. This entire area east of 7th ave to west of kawkawa lake has twice now and still is under a bacteria issue with our drinking water of which they still can not determine the cause so is under an added chlorine for far too long. If they start mining and have tailing ponds etc etc like all over BC will just destroy the nature of this beautiful little town and have an everlasting effort for generations to come. I do not support any expansion of this kind so near to all of us neighbors. It was bad enough last couple summers with all the gravel trucks hauling the gravel and rocks etc out of the pit, destroying the roads which yes us the local taxpayers have to keep paying for. I can only encourage the district to step up to the plate and use the municipal authority to kick start their own petition or support the community and find a way to get all residents of hope and all tax payers and all visitors to this town aware of this mining proposal. Come on city hall and Mr. mayor Victor Smith and councilors, where are your voices to speak out and start taking some action, this if your town too. You can start by erecting that same mining proposal sign at each highway and road entrance to this town for all to see this ludicrous mining proposal.

It’s unimaginable to develop a gravel pit aside a sacred cemetery and family oriented neighborhood.

This expansion will negatively impact the health and wellbeing of many citizens, the safety of pedestrians, cyclists and drivers, as well as the economy of Hope because we rely on tourism.
The taxpayers of Hope have already paid for the remediation of roads and drainage due to the heavy trucks causing damage.

I have family who live close to the pit.
