Petition addressed to: Mayor and Council, City of Kelowna
The City of Kelowna is planning to demolish Anderson Place, a historic waterfront home at 2302 Abbott St — a landmark that has been part of our community's character for generations.
We, the undersigned, urge the Mayor and Council to halt the planned demolition and commit to exploring the repurposing of Anderson Place as a community asset for the residents of Kelowna.
Anderson Place sits on a rare and treasured piece of Kelowna's waterfront, beside Strathcona Park and across from Kelowna General Hospital. Once demolished, this piece of our history is gone forever. Before that happens, Kelowna residents deserve a say in what becomes of it.
A growing group of neighbours and community members believe this house has the potential to serve Kelowna for generations to come — as a welcoming, multipurpose community centre that fosters connection and community.
We are simply asking the city to pause, listen, and work with the community before going ahead with the demolition.
