the struggle over the environmental costs from technological practices is an important topic for the planet, for local communities, and something that I research on as an academic. the environmental costs of lithium extraction have been particularly neglected, and this petition does an important job in raising the issue.

There are too many lithium ‘gold-rush’ diggers around with questionable concepts and lack of hydrogeological knowledge which could damage not only the water resources but the resources themselves. Therefore it needs the involvement of the communities as well as a sound knowledgable supervision of the mining operations.

La responsabilidad de cuidar cualquier parte del planeta es de todas, todos y todes.
El que se afecten, contaminen y destruyan recursos naturales en Argentina o en Tíbet, o en Brazil, o México, etc, tiene consecuencias para todo el planeta.

I’m concerned about indigenous ways of life being extinguished by short-term needs and profits. While lithium is important to the clean energy economy and climate change threatens everyone, it is overwhelmingly due to emissions in the global North and its solutions should not negatively impact those not responsible.
