Formal Petition for Service Improvements, Seamless Connectivity on the Milton GO Line

Petition addressed to: GO Transit Management

Dear GO Transit and Metrolinx Management,

I have been commuting from Milton to Toronto from 2022. This commute is filled with significant transit challenges. While the GO Transit Milton Line is the primary public transit artery for this route for both Milton and mississauga commuters. They regularly face a combination of infrastructure capacity, and reliability issues. Outlined below are some of the challenges i and my family have faced and i strongly believe others do face similar challenges. This petition is to request you to kindly address consumer grieviences and provide reliable service 

Hera re few challenges of transiting from Milton to Toronto:

1. Severe Overcrowding on GO Transit : During peak morning and evening hours, the Milton GO Line is severely overcrowded. MetroLinx has frequently had to adjust the length of certain train trips on the Milton and Lakeshore lines specifically to meet surging ridership demands and prevent dangerous overcrowding.
2.When trains are packed, boarding can be difficult, and the overall commute becomes highly uncomfortable 
3. Commuting from Milton to Union station takes around 1 hour and 10 minutes. We request for faster express service similar to Lakeshore line that has express to Union station. It takes around 35 minutes to Union Station from Burlington. Could we please get similar facility on this line at least 2 train schedules in the morning and evening. Say at 8.00 AM and 8.45 AM. With minimal stops at prime locations such as meadowale, streetsville, kipling, union station. This will help most of the University Transit Students to UTM and York University. It would be nice to have an express miway bus to UTM and express miway bus to York University Campus. 
4. Alternatively, It would be nice to have a direct express shuttle service that goes from Milton to UTM direct via Trafalgar, Ridgeway plaza to UTM Campus. Frequency at 8.00 AM, 11.00 AM and Back 3.30 PM and 6.30 PM as significant number of students commute daily to UTM campus. 

5. Finding Parking at Milton GO Station is a major daily struggle added to the in-take traffic and thanks to the Condo Tower that has attributed to increase congestion time. While a station redevelopment project promises upgraded parking layout. An alternative is to look at moving GO Transit station to fifth line, where we have an existing facility that can be upgraded and can be the new GO Station, that would reduce the strain on current city infrastructure.

6. Poor "Last-Mile" Local Transit Connectivity: I have noticed that once we disembark from the GO Train, getting to and from a residential neighborhood in Milton to the GO Station is often difficult. We do not see synchronized schedule time and have limited route coverage

7. Lastly, It would be beneficial for commuters to have a monthly transit pass with end to end seamless connectivity and payment options rather than paying for every trip. We should have seamless fare integration to commute across Milton transit way.

I hope you help the commuters have a satisfying and seamless connectivity experience. Your attention to this matter, can not only save money and time. It would help improve the quality of life of citizens living in Mississauga and Milton.
