I want to see all our agricultural land protected in law. Preventing landowners selling off this country's productive fields currently being cultivated to grow food crops to feed the nation.
All across the land valuable working fields are being concreted over. In my own area on the East Kent coast we are threatened with losing our fields that are all currently farmed growing food to being turned into massive housing developments. We would end up with an urban sprawl instead of little individual towns and villages with their own communities and character. If this is allowed to happen a bio diverse habitat will also be lost. Fields store carbon in the soil and soak up rain to prevent flooding. This is being echoed right across the country.
