Let's win our school back! With every signature, we're proving just how much Leweston matters to everyone.
Our school is a vital part of the wider Dorset community.
As well as nurturing families from nursery through to Sixth Form, we share Leweston with training athletes, community swim sessions, forest schools, Catholic and Anglican confirmations, community choirs and orchestras, summer clubs, and much, much more.
Losing the school would mean ending the life-changing work which takes place on its grounds and beyond. We have supported our sister school, Jana Jyoti, since 1987, both financially and as an active presence when they've welcomed us biennially in Nepal; Leweston's closure would have a hugely detrimental impact on their pupils' futures. The same applies to the countless charities which Leweston have supported over the years through the generosity and hard work of pupils, parents, and teachers alike.
It's hard to express, or even to imagine, the extent of the repercussions that Leweston's closure would have. Still, with the support of all of our pupils, parents, teachers, alumni, friends, and all those who make up the family that is Leweston, we can prevent this from happening. By signing this petition, you are playing an active role in preserving the future of our school. Thank you.

Education
Losing this wonderful school is a devastating loss to the community and to the wider area. With so much history and valued contribution to the education of many generations of girls and more recently boys, this dreadful situation has to be investigated with the utmost speed and transparency.
(Edited)
I worked at Leweston Preparatory School for 13 years and know first hand the amount of work the teachers and other staff of Leweston have put into the education of the children.
It is absolutely disgraceful that this closure is allowed to happen without any consultation with the parents and staff.
Some of the children started at Leweston school in the nursery and now they are being torn from their friends and probably the only school they have ever known.

Leweston School educates many local children to an excellent standard in a grounded and unpretentious way. It is a cornerstone of the local community, offering a first-rate education that remains within reach of working families. Its commitment to extracurricular development produces not only confident future professionals but open-minded, enterprising young people, many of whom will go on to create jobs and contribute to the local economy. Losing it would deprive the area of something that is very hard to replace.
