text of the petition
Celsys should support artists as they seek to break free of Windows and mac by providing the option to use a native Linux client as many users want to move to Linux from Windows but are unsatisfied by the options for art programs for Linux.
Clip studio is a major software used by many artists, who are tied to Microsoft Windows - OpenAI's largest investor, who have dedicated themselves to expanding and forcing users to give their data over.
Many people do not have the time nor expertise to set up and learn how to get windows programs working through compatibility layers like Proton and Wine, and still often have issues getting features like the Clip store working through Linux, which can be a deal breaker for those who need their materials in clip studio.
For many working artists, they are faced with the choice of either: remaining on an operating system that is going to steal their data to try and replace them and may pose serious security risks or lose partial or even complete access to their tool of choice.
Celsys has made ports of the Clip Studio Paint software to other Unix based Operating systems like MacOS and Android (which is technically based on the Linux kernel) - they should consider creating a native Linux client to support artists who want to make the move from Windows. For the benefit of promoting Linux adoption, pushing back against the abusive technology practices, and expanding their own userbase.
