Course Interest Forms - forms in which students indicate which course/classes they would like to take during the upcoming semester BEFORE the school decides which classes will be available for taking.
The University of North Georgia should email students course interest forms prior to course registration/selections being available to be understand current student needs and better focus resources accordingly.
Many students, especially in upper-level course, struggle to find availability in courses vital to their major. Many students wind up in situations in which their studies are significantly halted or prolonged by semesters at a time due the lack of course availability. Many students find that the limited selection of required courses have time conflictions with other required courses, or in many cases, the required courses aren't available at all that semester. The lack of consistency and transparency makes planning ahead near impossible for many students.
Meanwhile, the school offers a surplus of elective and introductory level classes across multiple campuses.
If the school were to survey students' intentions, the school would not only be able to better allocate resources based on demand, but the school would also be able to evaluate trends involving the types of courses students take concurrently and make those course available at nonconflicting times.
