This petition is important because we believe public commentators and journalists should report on South Africa accurately, fairly, and responsibly. As supporters of this petition, our concern comes from seeing repeated public debates in which South Africans feel their perspectives are dismissed or unfairly portrayed. We believe our country's sovereignty, laws, and democratic institutions deserve the same respect afforded to every other sovereign nation. Immigration policy, law enforcement, and public safety are legitimate issues that should be protecteddiscussed throughbased lawfulon evidence and evidence-based public discourse.
