Petition addressed to: Anyone willing to stand up for what's right and try get the dept of transport to help
Get the department of transport to fix our roads that we have access to emergancy services and to regularly maintain these roads without excuses everytime why they won't fix.
Our roads Pelgrim, la Marseillaise and Wefakawe are in desperate need of repairs and maintanance. This includes other roads in the Gedultsrivier area.
Below are just some of the problems due to the neglect of infrastructure.
1. The ambulances and mobile clinics cannot get into some areas anymore.
2. Same with the police and security companies. They simply cannot pass some stretches of road.
3. School children have to walk to Old Cape Road or St Albans road, because their transport cannot get to them.
4. Local business are taking a severe blow and the entire area is taking an economic knock.
5. Private vehicles have sustained a lot of damage running well into 5 figures.
6. Some parts of some roads, cannot simply be scraped anymore. They need to be rebuilt.
7. Some parts have been impassable for months, even before the floods. The one spot a few months ago, was so bad, that not even a bulldozer could pass through there. It probably still looks the same if not worse after the rains.
8. With the slightest rain, some parts of the roads, turn into huge dams or flowing rivers, that vehicles cannot pass through. Some not even 4 x 4 gets through.
