Demolition and Replacement of Concrete Bus Shelters in Duynefontein

The existing concrete shelters have degraded structurally over four decades, presenting urban blight and critical public safety risks. On-going complaints from the community in public meetings and social media groups highlight the severe issues with urination, defecation, drug taking, vandalism, aggresion towards the public and illegal occupancy (vagrancy), turning these bus shelters into public safety hazards.
We request that the City coordinates a capital replacement project to implement modern, high-visibility shelters featuring universal access components, in line with the City's ongoing transit upgrade frameworks. If we don't take action now in Melkbosstrand, we will see a steady increase in decay, as is seen in neighbouring areas.
