Justice For Charlton “Satie” Afrika: Oppose Bail (Case no.: 272:09/2026)

To the National Prosecuting Authority and the relevant Court

We, the undersigned members and supporters of the Pacaltsdorp community, call upon the State to oppose bail for the accused persons, Jason Goeieman and Jaco Barends, in connection with the murder case concerning Charlton “Satie” Africa.

Charlton’s death has deeply affected his family, friends and the wider Pacaltsdorp community.

We understand that there are eyewitnesses and other potentially important evidence relating to the circumstances surrounding his death. We therefore ask that the interests of justice, witness protection, evidence preservation and community safety be carefully considered during the bail proceedings.

We respectfully call upon the State to:

• Oppose the granting of bail;
• Ensure that relevant evidence is properly investigated and preserved;
• Protect witnesses and the victim’s family from intimidation or interference; and
• Ensure that the concerns of the Pacaltsdorp community are properly brought to the attention of the court.
