Petition addressed to: Dihlabeng Municipality
Our cemeteries, a places of peace are under siege:
tombstones shattered by repeated vandalism, graves hidden beneath overgrown grass and dense bushes, access roads so damaged and impassable that families struggle to visit, and basic maintenance neglected for far too long.
This is not just neglect; it's a profound disrespect to our ancestors, our families, and every member of our community. Vandalism continues even where security is claimed to exist. Grass grows unchecked, turning respectful sites into eyesores. Roads crumble, making it heartbreaking and difficult to reach those we cherish. Enough is enough!
We will no longer accept excuses. This petition calls on the Dihlabeng Local Municipality to take immediate and decisive action:
Reason
Our cemeteries are more than burial grounds—they are sacred spaces where we honor our loved ones, remember our shared history, and find solace in grief.
