Why people sign

Because we utilise this road when we travel home.

To complete the road phase from Makgabetloane to Jericho

I am a resident of Makgabetlwane Village and I support this petition for the upgrading of gravel roads D634, D632, and D635 to surfaced standards. These roads serve old villages where upgrades are long overdue, reflecting a backlog in service delivery that must be addressed.

Their current poor condition creates safety risks, seasonal inaccessibility during rains, and economic barriers due to vehicle damage and transport delays. It limits access to schools, clinics, and government services, undermining constitutional obligations under Section 152 (municipal duties for sustainable service delivery and development), Section 27 (equitable access to basic services), and Section 21 (freedom of movement). The upgrading of these roads aligns with the Madibeng Integrated Development Plan (IDP), the North West Provincial Development Plan (PDP), and the National Development Plan (NDP) 2030, which prioritise rural connectivity, inclusive growth, and poverty reduction.

Improved surfaced roads will reduce service delivery backlogs, strengthen rural connectivity, and enable local economic development through reliable transport networks for farmers, small enterprises, and youth.

This petition therefore calls for prioritisation of these upgrades to ensure compliance with constitutional mandates and fulfil government’s stated commitments to equitable service delivery and rural development.

(Edited)

It's hard to travel on those roads especially on rainy days. Our kids sometimes miss school due to these roads that are in bad condition.
