Die petisie is gerig aan: Hawkesbury City Council

Hawkesbury City Council is proposing a Special Rate Variation (SRV)—a planned increase in residential rates over the next three years of 40%. The purpose of this SRV is to secure additional funding to renew, maintain, and improve essential infrastructure across the region, with a particular focus on our local road network.
Council states that the SRV will help address the backlog of road repairs, enhance long-term asset management, and ensure safer, more reliable transport routes for residents and businesses. The proposed increase is intended to support sustainable service delivery and reduce reliance on short-term fixes.

Rede

  • We oppose the 40% rate hike because it worsens the cost-of-living crisis for many struggling families
  • It doesn't stop Council wasting money on non-essential projects while neglecting critical infrastructure

If council can "selloff" the water waste to Sydney Water because of their own negligence, they certainly do not need my 40% extra in rates.

Geen CONTRA-argument nog nie.

Waarom mense teken

The special rate variation proposal is vague in identifying the community assets that are a 'priority' mentioning roads that have only required on going maintenance by a competent contractor. also what is the 'standard our community expects'

Power supply is already out of control. The last thing I need is Council rates out of control.

I simply cannot afford the rate hike, particularly given that
I am retired
I live on acreage, consequently the rate hikes are allot more than councils propaganda suggests
The Only service I receive from council is rubbish removal and the pleasure of living on a dusty, pothole ridden road council have declared will never be surfaced
Council needs to look at running a leaner business just as private businesses would do

Placing families in further financial distress by adding to the already high cost of living. Nurses still fighting for a pay rise to be in line with other states. I suggest you make better choices with the funds you have and considering the huge number of new rate payers you will have through new estates will increase your finances considerably.

As a pensioner it is hard enough with the current rates. I pay fortnightly but constantly get letters of demand for more. Council will not allow us to sub divide or have more than 1 dwelling, which would be the sensible way to solve the housing crisis and allow pebsioners who worked since their teens to survive as we do not benefit from having lifelong super. No all baby boomers are filthy rich as the media keeps saying. Down sizing to town is not an option when the prices in town are outrageous and we could not rent while waiting for sale of property which takes years out here and then you have to battle young rich people on massive salaries to try to get rental as a pensioner. The rates increases will only leave the option of not eating
