The Panmure Community Action Group is petitioning the Auckland Council, Maungakiekie-Tamaki Local Board and Councillor Josephine Bartley to ensure the retention of the Public Reserve land at 1-3 Kings Road, Panmure, as a public car park for the benefit of the businesses, customers, clients, local schools and local residents of the Panmure Town Centre.
It is our belief that the loss of this car park will severely undermine the economic viability of all businesses at the east end of the Panmure Town Centre by making it increasingly difficult for people to access those businesses and services.
This petition is being widely circulated to businesses, their customers and others in Panmure.
Reason
Auckland Council is again attempting to sell off the vitally important Kings Road Car Park in Panmure after the original sale attempt fell over. This car park is essential for the businesses and their clients and customers at the east end of the Panmure Shopping Centre. It is also an important drop-off and pick-up point for parents and children at St Patrick's School, and the Early Childhood centre on Kings Road, as well as being an important parking area for medical centre patients - especially those with mobility and disability issues at the local medical centres. Local businesses have already put their names to this campaign and ask other Panmure locals to help them. The loss of this public car park could severely harm the economic viability of businesses in Panmure and also cause hazards for local school children who need a safe place to be dropped off and picked up by their parents.

Why people sign
With so much intense redevelopment in/around Panmure it is essential to retain free public parking for businesses and services in Panmure to continue to operate. The Kings Road car park is used extensively by shoppers, school parents safely depositing and collecting their children to St Patrick's school and patients ofcthe Pan.ure Medical Centre. It is time to really consider the needs of the growing Panmure community not just the month be made from this sale!

I am a parent of St Patricks School. I am mostly concerned of how safe my children will be if the surrounding area is congested with construction and vehicles. What will it look like if apartment buildings go up, will our children be safe trying to cross roads around the school.
