I am extremely concerned that it remains the practice of St. Pius to allow outside visitors to attend school masses. As this incident demonstrates, this invites potentially dangerous predators onto campus, during school hours, in the immediate proximity to our children. I believe this practice is highly unsafe, disregards minimum standards for student safety, and is clearly not in the best interests of students. I question how this is even legal and how St. Pius can meet its duty to keep our children safe while leaving them exposed to this risk.

I believe children should not have to be around pedophiles

The school is a closed campus, when the students are in mass, that should be considered a part of campus and access to the children should be restricted then too.

From what I understand the individual who was asked to leave was not arrested. That means he is still out there. We are hearing now that he has also been showing up to kid’s sporting events and making everyone uncomfortable. This is not the only wolf in sheep’s clothing. The school and church staff have enough to worry about. A closed door mass for the students is a no brainer.

My grandson attends this school and mass during school hours. This mass is open to the public while the children are attending. There has been at least one incident this week where an individual who was known to the public as a potential danger to children who attended and was asked to leave. This puts our children at risk for potential danger and violence. Measures should be put in place for their safety and security, just as there are at the school itself. The public is not allowed to wander into the school and engage our children, why would we we allow that in their mass time?

If the rest of campus is secure during the school day, why wouldn’t the church be secure during school mass? It’s a lapse in security protocol for our kids and staff.

For my child’s safety. Mass should never be open to the public during school mass. By alllowing the public to attend mass during school mass exposes great threat to the students at SPX. The chruch has control to adjust the mass time on Wednesday to a later time or eliminate mass on Wednesday to ensure all students are safe.

It’s the right thing to do

My children attend St. Pius X and I would feel more comfortable without the general public being allowed in the church during school Mass.

Critical safety issue and gap in security for students

I want my child and her community to be safe from harm. Closed campus should mean closed to anyone that is not a parent, staff member, or properly vetted volunteer.

parents should always be aware of any adults around their children. People in charge of those children should use a level of discernment and scrutiny that provides consistent security. This is common sense.
