As stated on the Peninsula school district board of directors web page and one of the core responsibilities: “Community Engagement: Encouraging active participation from parents, students, teachers, and community members to foster a collaborative educational community”
We ask that Superintendent Bahr and the PSD board members as elected officials take this opportunity to acknowledge the input and feedback from concerned PSD families and how this administrative decision impacts those you serve. This decision was made not actually considering the very well researched effects rotational impacts have on the actual students.
My concern as a parent of an elementary student at Minter Creek is that we have many years left with this school district and would feel more confident knowing major decisions like this take into consideration feedback and concerns from the families the district administrators were elected to serve.
My coach is one of those impacted by the districts decision which means next year we might not have a team. The 3 years we all spent building this team up into what is is not will mean nothing. PSD don’t do this to your teachers and students!!
It is wrong to change principles without their consent and it disrupts the entire school.
Kids need structure! People they can count and depend on. This makes it impossible to build trust and relationships with their principals.
Rotating principles within a school district can be detrimental for several reasons. Firstly, it can create instability and disrupt continuity in the school culture and administration. When leaders frequently change, it can lead to inconsistent decision-making and a lack of long-term planning, which can negatively impact students, teachers, and staff.
Secondly, it can lead to a lack of trust and stability in the school community. When leaders and administrations frequently change, it can make it difficult for parents, students, and staff to form strong relationships and develop trust in the school system.
With such low academic proficiency scores in our students, now is not the time to entertain potential decline in student achievement by rotating principals.
If you’re struggling with employee performance, I would recommend switching your poor performing principals with strong performing principals as this would be most appropriate and communicating with the parents.
As a parent, I don’t think it’s right that such a major decision was made without any input from the families or the community. Changes like this directly affect our children, and parents and taxpayers should absolutely have a say before anything is finalized.
I hope the board will reconsider this decision and take the time to actually listen to the people it impacts. Decisions about our schools should be made with the community — not without it.
My children’s education and welfare.
Involuntary moving a principle against their will and a potential pay cut is not how I would want my school district to do business. If an employee is not preforming and needs to be moved do not HURT other schools in the process leading to potentially bigger issues.
We love our principal at purdy and do not want a new one. Instead for moving principals the district should focus on providing support for the the principals that are underperforming. Not move them to another school and hope for the best
Importance of a Stable Principal in Schools: Having a stable principal is crucial for the success and well-being of our school community. A consistent leadership presence fosters a sense of continuity, which is vital for building trust among students, staff, and parents. Here are key reasons why stability in school leadership is essential:
1. Long-Term Vision and Goals: A stable principal can develop and implement a cohesive vision for the school. This allows for long-term planning, enabling initiatives to take root and flourish, rather than being disrupted by frequent leadership changes.
2. Strong Relationships: Stability allows principals to build meaningful relationships with students, staff, and families. These connections are vital for creating a supportive and engaged school environment. Frequent changes can hinder the development of these essential relationships.
3. Consistency in Policies and Practices: A stable principal can ensure that school policies and educational practices remain consistent. This consistency helps create a predictable environment conducive to learning, while a rotating schedule can lead to confusion and mixed messages regarding expectations.
Disadvantages of a Rotating Principal Schedule:
1. Lack of Continuity: Each new principal may introduce different priorities and methods, which can disrupt ongoing programs and initiatives.
2. Increased Transition Periods: Frequent changes require time for adjustment, which can detract from the focus on education and student success.
3. Reduced Community Trust: Constant leadership changes can lead to uncertainty and diminish trust in school administration, affecting overall morale and engagement.
In conclusion, a stable principal is vital for maintaining a thriving educational environment. Consistency in leadership leads to better outcomes for students, staff, and the entire school community. We urge decision-makers to prioritize stability in school leadership for the benefit of all.
I am writing to you as a concerned parent and deeply invested member of the Minter Creek Elementary community regarding the recent decision to reassign Principal Hering.
Principal Hering is not just a school administrator—he is the heart of Minter Creek. His steady leadership, kindness, and unwavering commitment to every student and staff member have shaped our school into a place where children feel safe, supported, and inspired to grow. His ability to lead with both compassion and competence has made a lasting impact on our children, our families, and the entire school community.
Under his guidance, Minter Creek has thrived academically and emotionally. His presence fosters trust, connection, and stability—qualities that are irreplaceable in a school setting. Removing him now would not only disrupt the progress we’ve made but would damage the strong, supportive culture he has worked so hard to build.
I understand that district-level staffing decisions are complex. However, I am deeply concerned by how this particular decision was handled. We have learned that the district surveyed teachers about their intentions to stay or leave prior to informing them of Principal Hering’s reassignment. This preemptive action feels like entrapment, and it undermines trust between staff and district leadership.
Furthermore, it has been disheartening to hear that the PSD Deputy Chief has stated that neither families nor PSD employees “get a say” in these decisions. This is both inaccurate and offensive. We do get a say—because we care deeply about our children’s education, well-being and our tax dollars fund their paychecks. Our voices matter.
I respectfully but firmly request that the district revoke this decision. I will also be contacting local news outlets to bring attention to how this has unfolded, including the survey and the dismissive attitude toward community input. Our school deserves transparency, fairness, and the chance to retain a principal who has consistently gone above and beyond for our kids.
Thank you for your time, your service to our district, and your thoughtful consideration of this important issue.
Perhaps its time to rotate Kirsten Bahr! Her lack of transparency and parental involvement in this decision has been shameful.
Constant turnover in any profession isnt good and that's exactly what this is, forced turnover.
Mr Herring belongs at Minter Creek and KPMS deserves the chance to let their new principal continue to build his legacy! He is doing a great job!
LET THEM COOK!

Mr. Mills is loved by all the students and he always helps with so many activities, STEM is so important. Im sure there are other ways to fix budget issues!!
The current proposal is absolutely insane!
Having a stable principal, who knows their job and their students and has good rapport with their parents and has built those relationships is super important to our schools vs shuffling principles around. Continuity allows for a more stable and safe learning environment where kids can thrive.
Over the last 4 years my daughters have been attending this school and we have at least 3 more years coming. Mr Harring has been such a pivotal part of the staff here that I feel changing him out for anyone else would cause both upset and strife to staff and students. He has been such an amazing front man to represent what we all a school leader should be like.
I feel it would be a big disruption to change leadership roles at any of the schools. This decision should have the parents buy in and support. This is NOT the way to get this result! Minter is an amazing school as a result of its leadership. Instead of breaking down a well working school the school board should find a less destructive way to bring the other schools up to a better level, and not create the disruption and confusion that rotating leadership would cause!
My child attends Minter Creek- rotating Mr Hering out does nothing but HARM our amazing school and he is an instrumental part of our team. So disruptive for all these kids….
As a former employee of PSD and parent of 3 students who attended, I understand the proposal but disagree that it is the best approach to solving PSD’s need.
Because “fixing” something that’s not broken is dumb. This is way more negative than positive and undoes years of relationship and trust building
Our kids need stable, caring leadership. Consistency and stability are so important and the current plan to rotate principals undermines years of developing the deep relationships with our kids and teachers that have made PSD a district people move to be in.
I strongly believe in consistency and lasting relationships between principals and students, staff and families. My children are both in high now, but if they couldn't rely on having someone there throughout their elementary years it would have been soul crushing and very difficult. My daughter especially relied on structure, and change like this is hard. Principals learn each kid, their siblings, parents & build a culture at their school. Rotating will destroy all of that.
Frequent principal rotation can cause more harm to staff and student morale rather than increase. Allowing principals time to grow and foster relationships with staff, students, and the community allows for increased success.
Because I don't see the benefit that changing the principal can have in the life of a student. On-going issues will be delayed with a new team who doesn't know their students. The spirit and values of our Elementary School may change which I don't feel is good for students and parents. Time for students to get familiar with new principal will be increased and it might also delayed the time that problems are reported.and taking care of.
Because the rotation of principals is going to be a detriment to my child’s learning, to all children’s learning. Trusted relationships have been developed over the years. This will break that.
We do not want to loose Mr.Hering as our principal. He has amazing leadership & has created another family at Minter.
A successful, caring principal creates a positive and supportive school culture that directly impacts student achievement and staff morale. Keeping such a leader ensures continuity, stability, and continued growth within the school community.
Mr herring has been a huge impact on my children’s lives throughout their elementary school years. Mr herring has always been extremely helpful with my kids, especially my son who has ADHD, to help calm situations that may come up and to support my son it those hard times. He has always been very open and commutative. It would be devastating to my children if he were to be removed and someone that no one knows to replace him. Please keep Mr herring at minter creek!
We had the pleasure of having Mr. Hering as our principal at Minter Creek, and he was amazing! Now that my kids attend Purdy, we've been incredibly lucky to have Mrs. Brooks—who is also amazing! A strong principal builds trust within a school community and inspires parents and local supporters to donate their time, energy, and resources. I would love to see both Mrs. Brooks and Mr. Hering remain at the schools they've supported, inspired, and made better. Their leadership has had a lasting impact, and keeping them in place would be a huge win for our students, staff, and families.
This is extremely important to my whole family. I have four kids who attend PSD, rotating principal is a horrible idea over the last five years my children have been attending they have built an amazing bond with their principal. This is causing a lot of unnecessary stress on children, and I believe a lot of trauma, I do not believe rotating principals is good in any way. This has left many elementary students in tears. Today was a very heartbreaking day to witness at our school. Instead of smiles and happy faces that spring break was here, almost all our children were crying or upset. Please think about our children🙏
