For the dignity and worth, health and safety of LGBTQ Citizens.
Though I am not committed to it necessarily at the end of Mechanic St.,, if many people think it is clashes with the Revolutionary history vibe of the street...I am committed to having it in town. Some public space should give recognition to the gay history of the town. New Hope was a welcoming getaway for gay people who were persecuted in their own towns...but New Hope was somewhere they could be themselves. It is historic in that respect
It would be an important welcoming statement for residents and visitors
As part of the community, representation matters now more than ever
To help spread LOVE not hate.
There is no town quite like New Hope. When one enters that town, it's like a warm hug. This art installation reminds all that visibility matters and they are loved for whomever they are. - Joe, 94.5 PST
It’s important to show that the community is a safe and accepting place for all people!
I think it is important for the heritage of New Hope to be celebrated
Justice
I love visiting New Hope and I believe the towns queer history is a vital part of its identity. This would be a meaningful way to celebrate this legacy and ensure it remains visible and relevant.
New Hope is a welcoming and safe space for LGBTQ+ families
All souls deserve equality!
I just think it adds to the inclusivity the town claims to promote
Represents my family
Make New Hope Gay again!!
This is a great idea! With all the changes that have happened in town over the past few years, this is an excellent reminder of the love, inclusion, and acceptance that has made New Hope the unique, wonderful place it is. We need to hold onto that!
As a member of the LGBT community, it is important to me to have a physical symbol for inclusivity and a landmark for visibility.
Awareness is necessary
This helps define us as a community who values every person, regardless of labels such as race, gender, religion, etc
As a passionate and proud ally I believe New Hope deserves a landmark symbol of its constant and timeless support of the Lgbtqia+ community.
I’m part of the community.
I want to add my name to the citizens supporting and including the LGBTQ+ community, especially my daughter and daughter-in-law. I look forward to the day when endeavors like this can take place without the need for petitions!
For everyone.
i work in town!
Visibility is everything.
It is important to people I care about, and personally, togetherness and community is important to me. This is a beautiful idea to make a marginalized community feel safer and more welcome in their spaces, and also to inspire curiosity in art and activism to those in the community.
My wife and I were married in New Hope, and part of the reason we chose New Hope is because the city is known for being open and supportive of the LGBTQ community. I think having a permanent art fixture in New Hope that shows it’s support of our community would be wonderful.
I work there and know it would mean a lot to the people in the area and who work there.
To represent All
I'm an ally and think it is important to remind those I care about who are part of the community that I support them. They deserve to be visible and free to be themselves.
