I am writing to advocate for allowing local business owners who traditionally operate past 12 AM—particularly those located outside downtown areas—to continue their operations without being subjected to the recently imposed restrictions.
The tragic events that occurred in Orlando are deeply concerning, but they stem from broader societal issues that should not unfairly impact small businesses operating responsibly in our community. These establishments are vital contributors to our local economy, providing jobs, services, and safe spaces for residents.
Associating all businesses with incidents that occurred in specific areas not only misrepresents the situation but also places an undue burden on those who are striving to build and sustain their livelihoods. Rather than enforcing restrictive policies, I encourage the adoption of targeted safety measures and community-focused initiatives that address the root causes of such issues.
I urge you to reconsider this decision and work with local business owners to create a balanced solution that supports both public safety and the prosperity of our small business community.
