Justice and the rule of Law

Because I am in innocent man who was wrongfully convicted of a crime I did not commit and the prosecutors knew it well yet still went through with the prosecution

I know far too many people who were wrongfully imprisoned and incarcerated for crimes they didn’t commit and due to withholding Brady

Prosecutors who wield the power of the State to incarcerate citizens should abide by the federal and state constitutions and take seriously their mandate to only pursue cases for which there is sufficient evidence. As a defense attorney prosecutors have often told me they themselves are being forced to prosecute a case by their supervisors. If individual prosecutors feel pressure to obtain convictions they should be able to stand by their decision not to prosecute a case with insufficient evidence - being able to point to sanctions provides the reason to stand up to supervisors if necessary and adhere to the constitution.

We must stop wrongful convictions.

I represent people in the LA criminal justice system daily. Prosecutors have wide discretion and little accountability.

All lawyers are responsible for their integrity and behavior. The type of behavior that leads a lawyer to hide evidence adverse to his/her desired outcome corrupts the justice system.

Keeping the JUST in criminal justice means ensuring that those who are punished are the actual people who were responsible. Prosecutorial immunity is not meant to protect prosecutors from their own criminal behavior.

Prosecutors have immense power over people’s lives. They MUST play by the rules to protect the innocent.

Justice is the foundation of both our country and of humanity. There is no justice when the innocent are jailed.

Louisiana’s systemic culture of unjust prosecutions should change.

We must do unto others as we would have them do unto us.

I am a personal friend to Raymond Flanks, who lost 38 years of his life for a crime he did not commit. And as a Christian, I believe advocating for a more just society is a righteous cause (Micah 6:8)

I'm facing a similar situation where the prosecutor is withholding evidence that may show my children's mother is a threat to my children's safety, health and well being and maybe using evidence for improper purpose which will result in displacement of the minor children and evidence can be used to exeronate pending misdemeanor chargers a case the Director of DCFS red flagged because of misconduct of DCFS/CPS and DCFS/ Non Support Supervisors.

My brother Damione Brock is a victim of prosecutor falsify documents resulting in 81.5 life sentence right now. He has been constantly denied relief.

No one should be in prison for false accusations or false justice

It should be disgusting and hard to stomach for ALL citizens of our state that prosecutors are getting away with knowingly imprisoning innocent people and taking their life away. The district attorneys only seem to care about a conviction rate, not true justice. It’s a win for them to get a conviction, when the goal should be true justice. They should be held accountable for their heinous actions.

Justice must apply to everyone. When those responsible for dishing out punishment are not held accountable, thats a tyranny and bad things result. Trust must be maintained for the justice system or anarchy will abound.

There are many who have new evidence and should be granted a new trial at the very least. Prosecutors, district attorneys should be closely monitored and grievances should be filed.

Justice for innocent individuals

Criminals should be prosecuted even if they are on the "right" side of the law

I've worked on cases where prosecutors have bribed witnesses, lied to victims, and used racism to inflame juries. Prosecutorial immunity enforces and enables abuse of power.

Prosecutors have the most power and extremely wide discretion as well as almost full immunity for their actions meaning there is almost no accountability for the people that decide whether to bring a case that removes someone's liberty. That is the opposite of due process and of "justice".

I know way too many individuals negatively impacted by prosecutorial misconduct.

Because I don’t like to see people being mistreated by prosecutors that Don’t follow the law the way it’s purposed to be followed. So I’m in support of this petition.

Because corrupt prosecutors should be held accountable to the law

Prosecutorial corruption undermines constitutional and human rights of our neighbors.
