This extension will not only disturb endangered wildlife, but also the hawks, coyotes, deer, birds, as well as the eagles that pass through this area. This would have a huge adverse impact on the vegetation and wildlife that has lived here for decades!
This road extension will encourage more traffic, more noise, and more unwanted commercial development in residential areas.
This project damages more of our dwindling natural areas and doesn’t address the actual traffic issues in the area.
I would like city funding to be used towards making OFallon a more walkable community. For example Streets of Caledonia to ODay park.
stop more traffic
Ecosystem, traffic,
Please do not bring noise, lights, and pollution to this fragile ecosystem! 8 and a half acres of precious forests that serve as a habitat for two endangered bat species, ABSOLUTELY NOT!
We live off DD for the serenity
Interruption of peaceful community, traffic concerns, loss of of numerous wildlife hibitats, tribal concern, historic artifacts, dust and vibrations, noise
Plan shows little to no concern for property, persons or wildlife. There will be little to no benefit from the project. The negatives far outweigh the positives.
Not a fan of more disruption of countryside or eminent domain.
Safety
The traffic volume on Hwy DD is already affecting my ability to leave our sub division safely at all times of the day. I have sat for in excess of 10 mins on many occasions trying to turn left out of Oak Drive.
With the new day care I am already noticing traffic backing up on DD as parents exit and enter the new facility. This in turn backs up my opportunity to be safe.
I also worry about young drivers
who I’ve seen pulling out onto Hwy DD taking inexplicable risks to jump out in the smallest gap in traffic rather than wait. More traffic along Hwy DD will result in injuries and chaos.
It already takes me a long time to be able to pull out safely onto Hwy DD from The Manors at Fox Haven. The breaks in the traffic are too infrequent and I find myself having to take more risky maneuvers to get across the traffic. I’ve even had to turn right to go all the way to the Streets of Caledonia to go around the mini roundabout to get back onto DD to Sommers.
I also like to walk over the O’Day park but it’s become impossible to cross Hwy DD on foot. It’s ridiculous that I have to get in my car and drive 300ft to take advantage of a park that I can see from our subdivision.
More traffic from the Lake St Louis Boulevardextension is going to add to the risks of walking and driving on/over/across Hwy DD
I have increasing concerns regarding the safety of my family. They travel Hwy DD and surrounding roads daily
My family use the trail!
Deb kreft
I live off of Hwy DD further past this purposed intersection. I have lived there for 13 yrs and the traffic has increased exponentially. I cant inagine adding more traffic at this i terscetion alongcwith the terrible hill that follows after this spot. I already can see major accidents happening here. Please reconsider for the safety of everyone that travels this higway everyday.
I live off of Hwy DD and this will affect my house and lifestyle.
Many reasons not to spend $10m on this project. Bigger, wider, changing the landscape of the area is not in best I retest of residents.
I live on Hopewell rd. And this area is already greatly congested. We have already lost a big part of our rural community and the reason we love where we live. I am also greatly concerned about losing the forested land as there are so many wildlife that depend on this and this will only push them further into the residential areas.
To preserve the natural areas and wildlife (some endangered species - we see a bald eagle on occasion) in our community.
The project if completed will cause a significant and dangerous increase in traffic.
I don’t want more homes in the area. It will over crowd our schools and create too much more traffic for our roads. We need to save what green space we have left from other construction in our area.
The traffic on the boulevard is starting to closely resemble Highway K and this extension will definitely increase traffic. This city was never designed to host this many people or this much traffic. The politicians have ruined this beautiful city for their own gain!
We need to keep our rural areas rural. Smart growth can be done in other areas.
Please keep Defiance rural. We don't need this extension.
Moved here to be out of city setting and more rural. Things like this do not help
Moved here to be out of city setting and more rural. Things like this do not help
t is clear that this extension will
1)adversely impact the quality of life of local residents,
2) irreversibly damage natural and historic areas, and
3) provide only minimal benefit for local traffic and actually exacerbate traffic on Hwy DD Furthermore this project will
4) seize private property through eminent domain and
5) cost you the taxpayer more than $10M+ to complete before even including the cost of ongoing annual maintenance.
