My subdivision is at Hwy N and LSL Blvd. We do not need to waste more of our tax payers dollars for another connection to DD. We need to widen Hwy N and add sidewalks way before this expansion to Hwy DD

The roads out here cannot handle more volume. More housing will diminish our property values. We moved out here to have more peace and quiet, not more people and traffic

It would make congestion worse than it is and take property away from people who own it. What little wildlife is left would have no where else to go.

increased traffic and reduction of greenspace is of great concern- purchased a home here years ago and want to maintain the quiet, peaceful, forested environment

protects 10 acre spring fed wetland, protects endangered species habitat and beautiful greenspace for many people who have homes in area and made that investment based on this area remaining natural. Fully supporting this petition!

Development is ruining this once quiet, peaceful area just for more money. I live in Wentzville and the same thing is happening here. It’s sad to see the animals leave for more concrete. Not to mention how it affects the citizens.

Increased traffic on rural DD, dangerous roundabouts, more needs for roadwork in other areas (better use of tax payer dollars)

We should stop rampant development, and keep this portion of St Charles county rural. Politicians and builders only see $$$$ , but the real draw to this part of the county is its country feel- let’s not destroy that.

heavy environmental impact of the acreage where which this roadway is planned. The planned area is special and more than just a few acres of woodland. This particular area contains a protected wetland where a natural spring can be found. The protected area is home to 3 species of bat, 2 of which are endangered, who help control the mosquito population in the area and who call the trees home. The low-lying wetland area is a natural point of collection for storm runoff and has proven itself during many Spring and Summer storms, including the torrential storm that dropped 10 inches of rain in one weekend in July 2022. The introduction of so much paved surface will negatively impact the ability of this area to control runoff and will increase flood probability to the homes in the area.
Building a roadway through this area will inevitably bring a level of pollution that will destroy the habitat around the roadway, despite any measures take to mitigate impact during construction. Petroleum spillage and byproducts will runoff the roadway during storms and collect in the protested area. Air pollution from the roadway will affect the endangered species in the area, and trash/litter will inevitably become a reality and will collect among the trees, bushes, grasses, and in the spring itself. This greenspace will be completely destroyed.
Additionally, the project will destroy a historical site. A cabin built by a group of African-American settlers who first built in the area. The Hopewell site property owners are working to add the site to the National Historic Places registry to protect it. Additionally, these property owners do not wish to have their property converted into a roadway but will eventually lose it due to the use of eminent domain as a result of these plans.
This area is a habitat to so much wildlife which successfully co-exists with the surrounding neighborhoods. Once this habitat is lost, this wildlife will spill out into the surrounding areas, causing additional traffic accidents, pushing predators such as coyote and bobcat into neighborhoods with small children and pets, and displacing many species of snakes
This area is so special and beautiful that the Preston Woods subdivision chose the area to build a nature trail that meanders through part of the area. There is such precious little greenspace in O’Fallon, MO that many in the area treat this area as a park, not simply a walking path. This area is loved by its neighbors and we take care of it.

Our wildlife has no where to go anymore since the homes, apts, storage facilities and roads are exploding in the area! We want peace and quiet out here and the extension wouldn’t be that big of a change for traffic! Please reconsider this project and look at it the way the local residents are and not those of you who want more dollars in your pockets ! WE DONT WANT the extension!

I want to protect our lifestyle. There's a reason we all moved further west and it was NOT to see all the land sold to greedy developers at the behest of greedy city leaders.

The minimal service it will provide does not outweigh eminent domain requirements and causes even more traffic issues that DD or Diehr can handle as it is. You guys have GOT to stop with this nonsense.

As a resident near the proposed intersection at Hwy DD, I see it as a problematic addition to the already dangerous Hwy DD. Bulldozing through wildlife habitats, historic sites and acres of refuge for endangered bat species-with no legitimate benefit to traffic flow-is nothing more than an ill-conceived project.

The risk of eliminating the endangered bat habitats will likely increase the number of mosquitos in the surrounding community as these bat habitats are in a wetlands area that is a breeding ground for mosquitos. This will potentially increase the spread of mosquito borne illnesses.

In reviewing the latest design proposal, the City of O'Fallon does not have a clearly defined design to address stormwater rolloff that prevents environmental contamination from being routed into the existing streams and creeks.

The roadway elevations in the proposed design will result in significant soil erosion adjacent to and surrounding the proposed sites.

The applicants have not demonstrated a need for this roadway. Any perceived public benefit does not outweigh the negative environmental impacts.

The roadway will be in close proximity to existing residences and bring noise, light, and pollution to a rural area. The roadway extension will require a total of three separate crossings of the unnamed tributary to Dardenne Creek and 2 wetland impact areas. The extension will disturb a historic property consisting of features that represent ruins of a 19th century log cabin of the Hopewell African American Community. The site is eligible for the National Register of Historic Places (NRHP). The extension will also remove 8.5 acres of forested areas that are suitable summer habitat for two endangered bat species, Indiana bat (Myotis sodalis) and northern long-eared bat (Myotis septentrionalis), and the proposed endangered, tri-colored bat (Perimyotis subflavus).

I live in the area affected and believe it is not beneficial to traffic and will take away from property values. It is affecting homes that are already close to a main street. I highly oppose this.

I know I live in a new community, basically because the housing market was so difficult at the time. Since then have seen the greed of officials override common sense, destroying the very features that made people want to live in the area: open undeveloped land, space for wildlife, less crowding more availability of resources. I oppose decreasing already strained habitat and ability of creatures roam which leads to eventually loss of wildlife such as the beneficial bat colonies that will be directly effected. Please plan better, develop less, get rid of the cronyism that cares less for the constituents and more for money/greed.
