UNCG MGT 491Section 5 & 6: Couse Schedule/Assignment Adjustment

This petition affects me directly as I am currently in Dr. Soheil Hooshangi‘s Mgt 491 class. The coursework in this class is excessive. I have had several 400 level classes, and I have never experienced the amount of work that he expects us to complete on a daily and weekly basis

As a student in this class, I agree with the points raised in the petition and believe that changes need to be made in order to achieve a course that benefits the students instead of having us deal with unreasonable expectations that negatively impacts our chances of passing this class

As a senior about the graduate I can’t afford to fail any of my classes and this class is the most difficult and confusing class I have this semester.

Impossible and horribly explained classroom expectations

This is important to me because I am also one of the many seniors who have signed this petition who have countless other responsibilities to juggle including student leadership of a student group, an assistantship, part time job, and also I graduate in May. Having this amount of unnecessary workload is affecting my mental and physical health and also those of my group members as well.

I am aiming to graduate this Spring, and I've noticed the complications and confusion of this MGT course since the first day. I must do well in all of my classes this semester since I am a senior. I can already forsee this class being the only course that keeps me from graduating on time, and this stresses me out greatly. I have not been confident that it is possible for me to do well in this class due to the confusion/ heavy coursework requirements. The difficulties in this course are noticed not just by students, but by other Business School instructors as well.

Because it interferes with some of my classes, and it is an extensive amount of work that needs a lot more time than anticipated.

This course load is quite drastic, with minimal preparation or expectations of calendar due dates for assignments. Meeting with my group to consider options for a "game" that takes hours to finalize decisions is so excessive, considering that it does not encapsulate the time it takes for notes and other work for this class and others. As a majority of seniors attending class, it has a drastic change in demand in comparison to the rest of our senior courses.

I’m currently a senior taking 4 other classes. Unfortunately, this class is very tedious and it’s causing me to neglect my other classes. This class is intensive with the assimilations we have to do with our groups every few days and the other individual assignments as well. I’m a TA for BUS 315 and once I start that position I don’t know how I will manage due to the workload for this class.

Between balancing two jobs to pay rent and managing a full course load in my final semester, I have too much to do. This class has far too many assignments to be manageable when considering all the other courses and outside responsibilities that students are taking.

Class is very confusing

I understand how other students are feeling and I feel the same way in a sense. This class doesn’t not necessarily need to be cut drastically, just needs a sense of understanding because we have other classes and work.

I completely stand behind this petition. As a senior at UNCG working on the last semester of my 5th year at the school with a 13-credit hour workload, there is no room for error. This class and professor requiring 8+ hours of work outside of the 3 hours we spend in class every week is unreasonable. It is affecting my sleep schedule, the time I spend on other classes, my relationship with those around me, etc. As I mentioned prior I am in my 5th year and throughout all 5 years at this university I have yet to encounter a class that requires even half of this workload. This is UNACCEPTABLE and something must be done.

Extremely hard to follow this course, no grades have been posted yet, BSG website is insanely difficult to grasp. Considering quitting my internship at a top 10 accountibg firm in order to keep up/understand the requirements of this course

Workload is very unmanageable for me as well. Every week is there are more than 3 assignments due which is unreasonable. It is hard for me to keep up with every week on top of 3 other classes. Having to meet weekly with team for more than 2 hours for an assignment. Doesn’t explain things well and when asked he gets upset.

Because this class is ridiculous and very unorganized and we don’t even know our grade percentages and he hasn’t graded any work and we are a month in. This is my senior year and I can't afford to fail a course due to an unorganized course.

It’s for my class and the class is becoming very stressful. The workload is a lot to do in the span of one week. And the instructor really is hard to understand sometimes and he talks very fast and I get lost

I agree with this petition. The coursework is outlandish. It says that we need to take 5 hours of our time a week. I am most definitely doing more than that. Having BSG (group and individual assignments), presentations (that have to be over 40 mins), weekly summaries, readings, exams, quizzes, and a paper is too much for one class. I am a senior, and I am worried that I will not pass this class due to the workload and confusing directions from the professor about the assignments.

This is important to me because I dropped this course due to so much work being given and this put me back a semester for graduation.
