Petition is addressed to: St Helen's City Council

Our home is St Helens, Oregon, the same town that houses Columbia River BMX. We find it distressing to see this cherished open BMX track fallen into such a state of disarray. The track is severely dilapidated and undermanaged. The park which should have been a haven for our BMX community and youth has become a safety concern. It's a symbol of the Track Operator's neglected basic maintenance and upkeep.

Reason

We are the St Helens BMX Group, a 501(c)3 non-profit, made up of racers, parents, and friends of the St Helen's BMX scene. We have collectively seen the decline in the track which does not reflect in the dedication of our group or the enthusiasm in our community.

Nationwide, BMX scenes are vibrant spaces cultivating thriving communities. Properly maintained parks contribute to the overall health and well-being of their users, especially young people who spend quality time there. The neglect that our BMX park undergoes does not align with the national trends and the potential benefits it offers. Our personal story of growing up around this park resonates with the broader experiences of many who have seen its decay.

We need improvements in leadership at Columbia River BMX. New management focused on maintaining and rejuvenating the track will better serve the youth and families of St Helens. Let's work together to restore this community backbone to its former glory. The BMX community deserves that, and so do our children.

Take a stand for our BMX community, for healthier outdoor spaces, and for the future of St Helens. Please, sign this petition supporting new leadership for Columbia River BMX.

Thank you for your support, Tim Schroeder, Saint Helens, OR
