Despite the severe nature of the crime, where Rivers brutally assaulted his girlfriend almost to the point of death in a Nashville parking lot. Judge Blackburn lowered his bail from $250,000 to $150,000 after he made known threats of killing her. Tragically, Rivers’ girlfriend has since been murdered, beaten to death, and this lenient bail decision has undeniably contributed to this devastating outcome.

This letter is a formal request to initiate a petition for the disbarment of Judge Cheryl Blackburn. It is imperative that the judicial system holds judges accountable for decisions that put victims and the community at significant risk. Judge Blackburn’s actions have resulted in an irrevocable loss, and it is our duty to ensure that such oversight does not occur again.
