Hello I’m sure many of you know me but if you don’t my name is Braden Brost and I’m a Varsity Football player for The Dalles Highschool. This was not my first choice but somebody has to say something about the current leadership in athletics for me and my brothers I play with. 

For those of you unfamiliar with the situation that happened at our last home football game, I was ejected for a verbal unsportsmanlike penalty.

 I was illegally targeted in the back of the head by an offensive player. I figured there would be a flag but as I got up I was told by the player whom just hit me “ Stay down you f**king F*got “. I then continued to get up,  not saying anything expecting the referee standing not even 10 feet away to throw a flag. I then witness the referee put his hand out at the player whom had not only just illegally hit me full speed in the back but then call me a homophobic slur as I was getting up. At which point the ref warned the player and said “ hey, hey, hey, watch it “. I lost my temper, and told the ref “ Not hey, hey, hey, throw a Fning flag “. I was ejected and rightfully so. Nevertheless my coaches have backed me fully through the situation and have made it clear it was BS what happened to me. 

I take fully accountability for my actions and am more than willing to serve the LEGAL ( that will be important in a second ) OSAA 1 game suspension. 

However the now current Athletic Director Jim Taylor is attempting to now discriminate against myself by trying to suspend me 2 games. 

He is attempting to discipline me via his new athletic handbook, which would make it a 2 game suspension. Here’s the issue, the Athletic Handbook MUST be approved by the board before implementation via district and school board policies. Jim Taylor has NOT had this handbook approved. 

I appealed It to my Principal whom rejected the appeal despite, CLEAR documentation of district policy that Jim Taylor is breaking both board and district policy ( 5 + documents, feel free to go look at these policies if you are unfamiliar, Id be happy to share them ).  And our now current AD cannot nor will answer for the fact he’s discriminating against me and my rights as an athlete. 

All I want is to have myself and fellow athletes to be treated fair and given a fair opportunity, something at which our current athletic department is failing tremendously and should be held accountable for. 

Nothing changes if Nothing changes, Myself and my brothers deserve better.
