Currently when a team moves up from D2 football to D1 division they have to wait two seasons to be bowl eligible, no matter how they perform. These teams are already at a disadvantage from a financial perspective compared to existing D1 teams, but this further hurts these teams from a recruiting perspective as players want to play for teams that have a shot at a postseason. Recusing the term from 2 year to 1 year is fairer to the team and its players and more line with the spirit of the game. The current rule only hurts teams, there is no benefit to anyone for having them sit out two years.

Reason

I love college football compared to the NFL because these kids play their hearts out. It’s a passionate level of competition where the season hangs in the balance every week. I look at a team like JMU that moved into D1 almost two seasons ago now, and at 9-0 they won’t be bowl eligible. This isn’t fair to their players who have performed so well this year and deserve a shot at a Bowl game, and to be ranked in the BCS.

Thank you for your support, Scott Greenwald, Aldie
