We, the undersigned residents and concerned citizens of Culver City and surrounding areas, strongly oppose the establishment of a community center at 3979 Tilden Avenue, particularly its proximity to Tellefson Park. We believe that such an endeavor poses significant risks to the safety and well-being of our community.
Our primary concern is the potential increase in vagrancy and homelessness that may accompany the establishment of this center. Tellefson Park is a cherished recreational space for families, children, and residents of all ages. Introducing a community center that may attract individuals experiencing homelessness could compromise the safety and security of those who utilize the park and its surroundings.
Furthermore, the proposed location is in close proximity to residential areas, schools, and local businesses. The influx of transient individuals could lead to a rise in loitering, disturbances, and even criminal activity, thus undermining the tranquility and quality of life in our neighborhood.
We recognize the importance of community services and support initiatives, but we believe that the chosen location is unsuitable for such purposes. We urge the responsible authorities to reconsider the placement of the community center and explore alternative locations that would not jeopardize the safety and peace of our community.
Therefore, we respectfully request:
1.     A thorough reassessment of the proposed site for the community center.
2.     Meaningful community engagement and dialogue to address concerns and explore alternative solutions.
We stand united in our commitment to maintaining a safe, vibrant, and inclusive community for all residents of Culver City and surrounding areas. Together, we can work towards solutions that uphold our collective well-being and foster a sense of security for generations to come.
