Your leadership, even outside public office, still carries immense influence. As former Commanders-in-Chief, you have always shown respect for peaceful transitions of power and fair elections. We need that example again—now more than ever.

⚠️ Why We're Concerned
Donald Trump’s recent actions and policies have dangerously undermined the foundation of our democracy and damaged America's international reputation. Below are just some of the most alarming developments:

1. Threats to Birthright Citizenship
Trump attempted to eliminate birthright citizenship through an executive order, a right guaranteed by the 14th Amendment. While the courts blocked this move, there's no assurance that future legal rulings will be respected. This sets a dangerous precedent for ignoring constitutional rights.
2. Potential Suspension of Habeas Corpus
Trump’s administration has openly considered suspending habeas corpus to enable mass deportations. Habeas corpus is a cornerstone of civil liberties, protecting individuals from unlawful detention. Ending it—even temporarily—would erode fundamental rights for all Americans.
3. Abuse of Executive Powers
In his first 100 days of office, Trump signed more than 140 executive orders—more than any recent president. Bypassing Congress at this scale undermines the democratic process and threatens the balance of power.
4. Disrespect for Judicial Authority
Trump has repeatedly ignored court rulings, refused compliance, and targeted judges who oppose his policies. The arrest of a sitting judge, reportedly to “send a message,” signals a disturbing attack on judicial independence.
5. Damaged Relationship with Canada
Hostile language and trade threats against Canada, one of our closest allies, have caused serious diplomatic strain. The backlash helped shift Canada’s election outcome and signaled growing distrust toward the U.S.
6. Embarrassment on the Global Stage
A hostile public meeting with Ukrainian President Zelenskyy, ending in the suspension of U.S. aid, was condemned by global allies. This incident—widely seen as undiplomatic and disrespectful—damaged America's image abroad.
7. Erratic Foreign Policy
The “America First” agenda has led to unpredictable decisions: trade wars, slashed foreign aid, and public criticism of NATO. These choices have alienated allies and weakened international partnerships.

📉 Economic Harm and Rising Instability
Trump promised economic improvement, but the effects of his policies tell a different story:

• Massive Tariffs: In April 2025, sweeping tariffs caused a 4,000-point drop in the stock market—the worst since the COVID-19 pandemic.
• Inflation: Rising import costs triggered inflation, raising prices on everyday goods and hurting working families.
• Investor Uncertainty: Rapid policy shifts doubled economic uncertainty, sending the dollar to its lowest value in years.
• Small Business Struggles: Increased costs and reduced consumer confidence led to job losses and closures across the country.
