To Our Balch Springs Neighbors,

QuikTrip Corporation is seeking to expand its existing gas station at the corner of Lake June Road, Balch Springs Road, and I-635 into a large-scale diesel fueling and truck parking facility, including:

  • A new diesel island for semi-truck fueling
  • Increased heavy truck traffic near adjacent neighborhoods
  • Infrastructure stress to already crumbling roads
  • Proximity to a liquor store, hotel, and funeral home
  • Safety risks and potential for increased illicit activity due to isolated lot layout
  • Environmental and public health concerns from diesel exhaust and runoff

This project is designed for interstate truckers, not the residents of Balch Springs.

The project directly contradicts community feedback, planning staff recommendations for denial, and previous resident opposition documented during both Planning & Zoning AND City Council meetings.

Grunnen til

To QuikTrip Corporation:

Balch Springs does not need a characterless truck stop expansion that compromises safety, health, quality of life, and infrastructure. This community already hosts several fuel options, and your current location does not need to grow at the community’s expense.

We urge you to withdraw this proposal and pursue alternatives that do not put residents, small businesses, or city infrastructure at risk.

Reason for Opposition:

This proposal does not serve community needs—it’s a move to exploit a busy I-635 corridor while ignoring consequences to residents, roads, and long-term livability.

QuikTrip has been attempting to push this project through for years, despite resident objections. Now, the corporation is again seeking approval for a project that could bring crime, pollution, traffic hazards, and long-term costs to Balch Springs families and businesses.

Let’s protect our neighborhoods. Let’s demand smart, sustainable development—not short-term gain for corporate interests.

We, the undersigned residents and allies of Balch Springs, urge the City Council to DENY QuikTrip’s zoning and development proposal.

Stand up. Speak out. Sign on.
📅 Next Council Meeting Vote: Monday, August 11th at 6:30pm, Balch Springs City Hall

Hvorfor skriver folk under

As a longtime resident, I’ve seen how these kinds of projects degrade our neighborhood. This isn’t just about trucks — it’s about the future of our community and our children’s health.

Research shows clusters like truck stops, hotels, and liquor stores increase crime and safety risks. Adding large-scale diesel fueling in this tight space is a public hazard we cannot accept.

That area is already over crowded with 18 wheelers, the roads and infrastructure cannot take even more traffic!
