Dear Valued Grapevine Coffee Community,
I am writing to express Leyna and my gratitude for your support in the matter of Grapevine City's proposed zoning amendment 25-04. I can't tell you how overwhelmed we were by the huge show of support, which even saw our General Manager, Courtney and a number of our loyal customers, amongst whom was our friend Joseph Giras. I would love to mention the other kind people who stood up and spoke on Tuesday, but you know who you are, we thank you so much.
In addition to this, 727 people signed our online petition and 440 left positive comments about Buon Giorno Coffee Grapevine. I was unable to attend personally, but did pen a four page submission and emailed the Mayor and the City Manager, whose son was, incidentally, one of our first employees.
The result of the Council Meeting on Tuesday was a decision to postpone the zoning amendment and for the Planning Department to go back and draft changes that would ensure small local businesses that serve the community faithfully are protected for the future. A follow up meeting will take place on July 21st, we presume at 7:30 pm. and there will be no notice given of this meeting, and so if you are interested in hearing the outcome, please make a note in your calendars.
This was a victory for local residents and common sense. All of you who contributed to this last minute effort to avoid an unfortunate change to our zoning were responsible for this response. My thanks are extended to our Mayor, William D Tate, who personally encouraged a reassessment to take place.
