Added a source for the economic loss due to Canada barring US alcohol.
New justification:
The Problem: A Trade War on American ShelvesFor over a year, American alcohol producers have been unfairly targeted by Canadian provincial liquor boards. Major U.S. brands—from iconic Kentucky Bourbons and Jack Daniels (made in my state) to local craft beers—have been systematically removed from Canadian store shelves.
- Devastating Losses: U.S. spirits exports to Canada plummeted by over 70% between 2024 and 2026. [https://distilledspirits.org/news/american-spirits-exports-report-u-s-spirits-exports-decline-3-8-in-2025-amid-ongoing-trade-friction/?utm_source=chatgpt.com]
- One-Sided Trade: While Canada has effectively boycotted American products, the United States remains a wide-open market for Canadian brands. In 2025 alone, the U.S. imported nearly $700 million in Canadian spirits.
- The Double Standard: American businesses are being forced to pay the price for geopolitical disputes, while Canadian companies continue to profit from American consumers without any barriers.
Why This Matters to YouWhen American distilleries and breweries lose their second-largest export market, the ripple effect is felt at home:
- Job Security: Every bottle of American bourbon or craft IPA supports farmers, glass manufacturers, truckers, and hospitality workers.
- Economic Sovereignty: We cannot allow foreign governments to dictate which American products are "allowed" to succeed.
- Local Support: Our local craft breweries and family-owned distilleries are the backbone of many of our communities. They deserve a government that fights for their right to a fair global market.
Our DemandWe demand that the United States government:
- Implement an immediate ban on all Canadian alcoholic beverages until all American products are fully reinstated on Canadian shelves.
- Enforce strict "Buy American" provisions for all federal and state-level alcohol procurement.
- Prioritize American Distilleries and Breweries in the upcoming 2026 USMCA (CUSMA) joint review to ensure permanent protections against retail boycotts.
